I just got the castings. They look pretty Damn good!! I guess the
skull is a little "off" in places from the bad mold compound
but it sure is going to be nice. The teeth are whole and the jaw
and skull close together maybe a little better than the originals.
The teeth seem to be plenty strong. I was concerned about that.
I think the flipper is so thin between the bones on the very tip
that it just doesn't have enough cross section to be anything but
fragile. I'll mount the skull to the bot, cut the two crossbars
off the jaw, paint it and send you a pic. Thank you again for helping
me on this stuff. Well done!

Hey Mike, thank you for such a wonderful business, and for the
compliments. Thank you again for the beautiful work, I'm really
blown away. I really wish I could articulate my gratitude better,
it's such a feeling to see something you worked on for so long perfectly
translated into a small army! Anyone I know looking for a castor
will be sent your way.
Again, thank you so much for such a beautiful and professional
job, I'm absolutely delighted!

The package arrived today!!!
WOW. I never expected my original to come back in
such good shape! I have heard horror stories that
suggested that original sculptures were utterly
trashed by the molding process. Some guys even posted
or printed photos to prove it.
I ordered one pull for PT, one for a museum and one
for myself. But, since the original can be easily
restored, looks like I have an extra!
BTW I really like the way you kitted my model. The
bases will take very little effort to be serviceable.
And the rest looks just as easy to finish!
Thank you VERY much! Hopefully I will be contacting
you soon with orders for more.
Thanks again!
-Leelan
Mike,
I always thought I was a really patient person, but after taking
your class, I wonder...
You have a lot of patience, you're a born teacher, and I really
appreciate all of the time you
took to explain all of the little things that I asked about, or
didn't, or forgot to ask about.
You made sure that when I finished your class, I knew what to expect,
from the materials, to the equipment, or the next sculpt I produce...
I have taken all kinds of classes through the years, but this was
the most informative, AND the most fun. I left your class feeling
as though it all made sense, when before, even after thinking I
knew what to expect, I now know I didn't really have a clue.
Thank you Mike, if anybody is ever thinking that they don't need
a class like this...
All I can say is... You learn years of experience with the short
time you are in this class, and
that's worth it, let alone the thousands of dollars you could save
from making your own mistakes. Had I not taken your class, I would
have assuredly thrown away a lot of time, which equals a lot of
money.
I met a mentor, and made a friend in the process, and that by itself
says a lot!

Mike went the extra mile to make sure we had our copies for an
important event. He really came through. The castings are high quality
and very consistently high quality throughout the entire run. No
nasty surprises, no problems with turnaround - everything went smoothly
despite an extremely tight deadline. I was definitely happy with
the services and product I received. Many thanks for the good work
at a reasonable price!

Dear Mr. Evans,
Max's pieces were lovely. You both did a super job. I have forwarded
my praises of your work onto The Discovery Channel. I do
hope we have another chance to work together.
All the best,

America".)
Hi Mike,
I'm so sorry I'm replying in such a late fashion. I've been super
busy trying to piece all my new equipment together. The compressor
is working superbly! Everything was completely hooked up yesterday.
Now I'm in the process of making my first mold using what you have
taught me last month.
(***fingers crossed***)
Here are the answers to your questions:
Q. How did you find out about the seminar?
A. Word of mouth. A guy who manages a used bookstore that I always
go to had started talking about Lunar Models and its products. I
then went to there web site and decided to call the store. The person
that I spoke to was actually the present owner of Lunar Models and
suggested to check out Alchemy Works website. I went to there site
and I like the candor and the descriptive explanations of the different
techniques.
Q. What did you expect to learn, and do you
feel you completed your goals?
A. I expected to learn a lot of things. I wanted to know the proper
way to do resin casting, including gravity pours and pressure
pot casting(always been curious how to do pressure casting). How
to make hollow casting resin to save product cost and make
large parts lighter; to be able to use fillers to save on resin
costs and to make parts lighter and/or heavier. To make wax casting
in rubber molds because I originally started of as a bronze sculptor,
using plaster as a mold, but I found plaster to be a fragile product
to work with. It has a tendency to fall apart after several castings.
I have always wondered what a cold cast bronze is. I figure it wouldn't
hurt to learn it if I already know how to make hot cast bronze.Making
clear cast parts from urethane or from polyester and tinting
resin was totally new tome and I quite enjoy learning the process.
And finally I wanted to learn to cast hydro stone, plaster
castings and cast stone because I totally sucked at chiseling marble
stones. It just wasn't my medium. I figure why not learn how to
cast stone instead. Having that in mind, I figured how in the world
is this guy going to teach me all this stuff in three days? Sure
enough, Mike was a genius. He managed to teach me all these things
in three days. His approached this class with such ease. It
was amazing. What I like most about his class was that he was not
afraid of TEACHING me the "tricks of trade". Most
people would just clamp up and keep their techniques a secret in
fear that someone is going to take their ideas and/or method away
from them. I was impressed with his thoroughness and explanations
in every little thing that he was doing and using. Even after all
the "Why?" that I have asked, questioning his every process,
he never faltered in explaining it in great detail. The three days
that I have spent with him learning the trade is priceless. I will
always remember and cherish the kindness, patience and thoroughness
that Mike has provided in the class. A TRUE mentor...and I didn't
realize it that, that is what I truly needed and missing as being
an artist. Thank you so much!
Q. Do you feel the course represented a good
value for the tuition price?
A. Most definitely. The time saved in learning how to do the process
correctly has definitely save a lot of time, money and frustrations
in trying to figure it out (myself) by trail and error. For me,
it was an invaluable experience.
Q. What else would you like to have covered
in the seminar?
A. Mike covered everything that I wanted to learn in the seminar
and plus additional techniques I thought I wouldn't need or didn't
realize I needed to learn, but proved to be very useful after the
completion of his seminar.
Q. Would you recommend the seminar to someone
else?
A. Most definitely. It was worth the time and money invested because
I was eager to learn and I had a list of things in mind that I wanted
learn. It's a great environment and a great learning experience.

Mike Evans came to our shop, reviewed our needs, then produced
a mold for us within our time frame. He was quick to provide further
adjustments to help with repair factors. I would recommend Mike
Evans of Alchemy Works.

Dear Mr. Evans,
Rex has not arrived yet, but I do appreciate you following-up.
I will notify you when I do receive the kit.
Thank You, Ivo Grasso
P.S. I've already received two other kits by Mr.Krentz and your
casting is truly brilliant. I can't wait to see the results for
Rex. Keep up the great work.
Mike, Hope this message finds you well. It was wonderful meeting
you at the workshop. You are a natural at instructing/teaching and
I hope you continue with it.
--Mylene: Jamaica
Dear Mike,
I received your letter today, thank you. I really enjoyed the seminar
at Synair and I also learned a lot, at this time we are making our
first molds in Mexico and they are working fine. Since the molds
I made at Synair were not that difficult now we are having some
new experiences with models with vents and learning how to cut the
mold with those vents, but we are having good results and we are
learning. I think the seminar was great, and every thing you said
became very useful.
Thanks and best regards, Jorge: Mexico
Dear Mike,
It was a great pleasure to learn from you at the Synair workshop.
We have enjoyed ourselves tremendously and have also learned a lot.
As starters, we will try on some simple moldings first.
--Jan and Eddie: Malaysia

Mike,
Wow. I got the Giant models here last week, and the Treewomen today as a result of them being held at the border for inspection (which is fairly typical and I'm used to it). I was very impressed with the Giant models, tho they has a slight bit of warping tho their detail was spot on. The Treewomen are absolutely bang on and look excellent. It is even a great weight and color of resin. Basically, they are absolutely what I wanted and I just wanted to mail you and say thanks.
Included is a picture of the Giant all painted up. Thought it might be fun for you to see how they look all finished.
